Wacky Dancers started out as a Halloween costume. After showing it off at a couple parties, and getting an incredible response, I decided to show it off some more. Trick or treating was a blast.
But the fun didn’t stop on Halloween. I was feeling bad one day and decided to take it out to the street for a couple minutes. I could see people smiling, and one guy even snapped a photo as he drove by.
I brought it to a garage sale:
I made a couple more and let the neighbor kids play with them.
Eventually, we realized that this should be a thing. We wanted to make people happy with these costumes, and we wanted to share them with the rest of the world. They are easily recognized, they are cheerful, they are silly, and they are fun.
From 2016-2019 we (my partner Danielle and I, along with some friends we hired) made and sold Wacky Dancers, manufactured and fulfilled out of our home. The costumes are made by hand with love and expertise. We sold over 450 units until competition from China came in and undercut our business. I did a presentation on it here.
